If you think that the human hair is the tiniest fiber that has ever existed, you better have to recheck your facts. In this age of technology, man has invented and created a fiber that is about one hundred times finer than the human hair. Called the 'microfiber,' this tiny invention is now considered as the heart and soul of technology.

The microfiber is basically made of two artificial or man-made fibers, the polyester and polyamide. The microfiber was initially used in the cleaning industry that includes janitorial and car care services. But the benefits of microfiber technology did not go unnoticed. Other industries began to tap into its useful characteristics. One such industry is the upholstery and furniture industry.

Microfiber fabrics are not only gentle to the touch and lightweight; they are also maintenance-free. With such characteristics, the upholstery and furniture businesses think it fit to manufacture microfiber furniture.

The microfiber furniture usually made from a polyester-rich microfiber mixture. This is because polyester fabric, unlike polymide, absorbs more color. Polyester fabric gives any microfiber furniture or upholstery a lasting color with less the regular maintenance that other fabrics require.

Caring for your microfiber furniture or upholstery is easy. It is basically stain-resistant, so a few drops of mild detergent are enough to get rid of stains; there's no more need of hard brushing or scrubbing. Also, dirt and dust present can be easily extracted by vacuuming the area, while lint can be removed from it with a common lint roller. The easy removal of dirt, dust and lint makes the microfiber furniture a good choice for people with allergies to dust and mites or asthma.
